Pezzolano and Behrami discuss why Watford signed Mendy.
Nampalys Mendy will miss Watford’s Championship match against Southampton on Saturday and will focus on improving his fitness over the international break.
Mendy joined the Hornets on a one-year contract with the option for another this week, bringing international and Premier League experience to Vicarage Road. Paulo Pezzolano described how he expects the 33-year-old to contribute this season once he is fit to play.
The head coach stated, “I’m extremely pleased to have him. “He will provide us with the necessary experience to surround the younger players in our group.
“He was doing some fitness work, but not with the team, so we’ll work with him and evaluate him on a daily basis.” “We now have an international break, which gives us time to fine-tune him.

Assistant sports director Valon Behrami explained why Mendy came to the club’s attention and what he hopes to contribute. He stated, “Mendy is a player who leads by example; the way he runs tugs you along with him.
He is aggressive. “Perhaps we miss a guy who recovers the ball and can rapidly shift the scenario from defence to offensive. “We discuss this with Paulo as well.
“The experience and motivation is something important. He really wanted to come here to work with us.”
