Pezzolano on Baah, Pollock and Maamma ahead of Southampton.

Paulo Pezzolano stated that he does not consider any of his players to be “stars” after excluding Kwadwo Baah from three consecutive starting XIs.

Baah is supposed to play a key role for the Hornets this season, but he has been limited to the bench as Nestory Irankunda and Luca Kjerrumgaard create a centre-forward combo.

Ahead of Saturday’s game against Southampton, Pezzolano argues that individual skill will never take precedence over team needs, using European champions PSG as an example.

He stated, “From my perspective, there are no stars in teams like Watford.” “The most important thing is the team, and we must continue to strengthen it.

“Right now, the process with KB [Baah] is to assist him comprehend the game, when he will come off the bench, and when he may start. “The most important example for all of us is PSG.

“When they won the Champions League, they didn’t have as many great names as they did in the past because they bonded as a unit.

“The most essential thing to us is that this squad is a family. Irankunda, for example, is learning that the team comes first, and then he can project on the pitch.”

Pezzolano stated, “Mattie have that passion and leadership qualities. He is an extremely competitive guy.

“That’s exactly what we need as a team.” The head coach also gave good news about Othmane Maamma, who impressed with his abilities this summer but was not initially physically fit to play. Pezzolano stated, “He’s doing really well. He is making significant progress, both physically and mentally.

“If he keeps evolving at the same rate, he will be available and taken into consideration after the international break.”
