Pezzolano pleased with Watford’s character in Hull win.

Paulo Pezzolano lauded Watford’s spirit after they rallied from behind to defeat Hull City 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The Hornets were booed as they trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Imran Louza and Vivaldo Semedo scored to secure their second win of the season.

Pezzolano believed his team earned three points for their effort. He said: “In the first half, we were good on the ball at times, but we were stressed.

“They had one chance and scored, so everything is shaky.” We too had several chances but were unable to score.

“At halftime, we advised them to remain calm and continue with what we’d been working on. “We shown character. There was no justification today about a young team or anything. It was a matter of demonstrating character.

“We continued playing well and we managed to get the win.” Despite the “stress,” Pezzolano was delighted that his team stuck to what had been planned on the training ground.

He stated, “We are calm; we always trust in our work and the job that the boys have done. “In previous games, things were not always going well, but we remained calm.

We hope to accomplish it again in the next game. “We want to keep expanding on the same notion we’ve had since the beginning: work every day to improve the players.

“The results haven’t come as we wished but we’ll keep on being ready.”
