Plans for fresh Dundee anti-immigration protest after asylum seekers moved from student halls

Plans for fresh Dundee anti-immigration protest after asylum seekers moved from student halls.

Police claim they have the ‘necessary resources’ to keep demonstrators, counter-protesters, and the general public safe. After preparations for a new anti-immigrant protest in Dundee emerged, police vowed to’mitigate disruption to the wider community’.

The demonstration will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, only days after asylum seekers were relocated from former student residences on Alloway Place.

To ensure the safety of inhabitants, the Courier has elected not to reveal its location. A counterprotest has also been planned.

Police say they will have “appropriate resources” in place to protect residents and the community.

Police to ‘mitigate disruption’ at Dundee anti-immigration protest

A Police Scotland representative stated, “We are aware of planned protest activity in Dundee on the evening of Thursday, November 13.”

“We will have appropriate resources in place to ensure the safety of those in attendance and mitigate disruption to the wider community.” It is expected to be the latest in a series of anti-immigrant demonstrations and counter-protests.

Protesters have repeatedly battled outside the former Alloway Halls.

The property had previously housed persons awaiting asylum petitions. Residents left earlier this week because Mears, which runs refugee accommodation in Scotland on behalf of the UK government, failed to extend its contract to use the facility.

They were reportedly taken by taxi to former student halls in Aberdeen. Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man has been charged during the most recent anti-immigrant protest in Dundee.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
