Poku still out as QPR look to halt poor run

Poku still out as QPR look to halt poor run.

Kwame Poku will be unavailable when QPR play Sheffield United this weekend.

The summer signing sustained a hamstring injury on the first day of the season and was out for over three months before returning to first-team action as a second-half substitute against Ipswich.

However, due to another injury sustained in training, he missed Wednesday’s setback against Southampton and will now miss Saturday’s encounter.

“He’s not available for tomorrow,” said head coach Julien Stephan. “He will probably come back on the (training pitch) next week.”

Esquerdinha’s place in the squad is in jeopardy after missing the Southampton game due to a minor injury.

The Brazilian left-back was scheduled to be inspected on Friday afternoon and is expected to be cleared for the trip north.

He is likely to replace Rhys Norrington-Davies, who is on loan from Sheffield United and hence ineligible to play.

“Normally, sure. Esquerdinha will return. We just ended the training session, so I need to do the assessment with the medical team, but it should be fine,” Stephan remarked.

QPR travel to Sheffield aiming to end a worrisome slide in which they have lost three successive games and won just one of their last five.
