Police action at Coventry churchyard hit by trouble-making yobs.

Patrols have been increased around the St Michaels churchyard. Police said action was being taken in a Coventry churchyard affected by yob behaviour.

Anti-social behaviour continues to be reported in the vicinity of St Michael’s Churchyard.

Last month, CoventryLive reported that Rev Canon Claire McArthur of the church was ‘deeply saddened’ that the location had become a magnet for ‘drug-related activity’ and anti-social behaviour. Stokeand Wyken police officers said they had increased patrols in the area.

The team reported that their work had resulted in ‘firm words’ of advice being given to some. They said they had also been attempting to assist rough sleepers in the area.

“Officers have increased patrols and have been dealing with homeless and/or youth appropriately; some have been referred, while others have been given firm words of advice,” the team reported in their most recent online community update.

They also urged anyone who encounters rough sleepers in need of a warm place to stay to contact the Salvation Army at 02477 714 443 or Rough Sleepers at 02476 832 222.

The team’s PCSOs have been cycling through local green spaces and parks, monitoring anti-social behaviour hotspots among youth.

They also assisted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle, which was eventually returned to its rightful owner.They also returned a lost handbag containing a phone to its rightful owner.

“On top of this, officers have also been busy with ongoing workload and conducted speed watches in the areas given by the public known has problem areas, if you know any areas you would like us to check out please drop us a message,” according to the squad.
