Police seek four boys after derelict school fire.

Police are hunting for four youngsters in connection with a fire at a disused school, which they suspect was deliberately ignited.

At approximately 17:45 BST on Sunday, eight teams were dispatched to the fire at the former Moira House School buildings on Upper Carlisle Road in Eastbourne.

Shortly after 08:00 on Monday, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) station manager Trevor Funnell said the response had been reduced to two fire engines, but he expected firefighters to be there for the majority of the day.

Sussex Police were looking for information and stated the four “boys/young people” were believed to have accessed the premises on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Funnell told BBC Radio Sussex that a section of Upper Carlisle Road remained closed but would reopen as soon as possible.

He also stated that part of the building that caught fire had collapsed and warned people to stay away.

Images show that the fire went across a substantial portion of the main four-story building, destroying a number of rooms in the rear.

There are no reports of injuries, and police and medical crews have left the scene. Sussex Police have been approached for further information.
