Police update after man with knife spotted in Coventry city centre.

Police were called to the Lower Precinct on August 29. Police have provided an update on a knifeman detained in Coventry. He was caught at the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre.

Officers were called to the Lower Precinct about 11.20 a.m. on August 29. Cops were also visible near Sports Direct in Upper Precinct.

A man in his twenties was promptly detained. He was detained and held in prison for interrogation.

Police told CoventryLive that the man apprehended has not been charged. He has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

On August 29, a spokesman for West Midlands Police stated, “We were called to Lower Precinct in Coventry around 11.20am this morning to reports of a man with a knife.” Officers responded swiftly, and a man in his twenties was detained.”

In an update provided today (September 4), they stated: “He was not charged and was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act.”
