Portsmouth can achieve something for first time in 56 years against Norwich City.
Portsmouth welcome Norwich City to Fratton Park on Saturday, looking to build on their impressive 1-0 win over Oxford in their season opener.
Adrian Segecic scored the winning goal in a game in which Pompey’s defence held firm against a late surge of pressure to keep a clean sheet.
That will please John Mousinho, whose team was known for conceding crucial late goals away from home near the end of last season.
Their home form was particularly strong, and Portsmouth are considered favourites to defeat Norwich this weekend.
If they succeed, they will have accomplished something unprecedented in 56 years.

Portsmouth tend to struggle for back-to-back wins vs Norwich
Last season, Portsmouth only won three away games, one of which came against Norwich in April.
Mousinho’s side won 5-3 at Carrow Road, thanks to a hat-trick by Colby Bishop and goals from Matt Ritchie and Regan Poole. According to Opta, they now have the opportunity to win consecutive games against Norwich for the first time since April 1969.
Pompey have not lost their first home league game since 2013, with a record of six wins and five draws. Meanwhile, Norwich have not won their first away game of a league season since 2020.
Portsmouth will have to be at their best to defeat Liam Manning’s Norwich
The history books may favour Portsmouth in this game, but they will need to be at their best to beat Liam Manning’s Norwich.
Norwich were one of the Championship’s strongest teams last season, and appeared to be playoff contenders until a late run of poor form cost them.

Manning qualified for the playoffs with Bristol City before leaving Ashton Gate to take over as manager of Norwich City this summer.
He has been very active in the transfer market, signing promising young players from several European leagues. They still have Josh Sargent. The 25-year-old is one of the league’s deadliest strikers. He was close to signing for Wolfsburg for around £20 million this summer, but the deal fell through.
He may still leave before the transfer window closes, but he is available for selection at Fratton Park and will look to build on his two goals in two games this season.
