Price draws comparison with West Brom legend Brown.

Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown, West Bromwich Albion’s all-time leading goalscorer, believes he shares similarities with in-form Baggies attacking midfielder Isaac Price.

The 21-year-old scored the only goal in the club’s Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers and twice in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Wrexham.

Brown praised Price’s performance, having scored 279 goals for West Brom over 17 years. “He’s a good technical player,” said Brown, 79, on BBC Radio WM. “He looks for holes and spaces and plays right behind the front man.

“He plays the same game that I used to play: waiting for gaps to appear and scoring goals. And he’s got the ability to bend and manipulate the ball.

Price, who joined the Hawthorns in January from Belgian club Standard Liege, scored once in 15 appearances last season. However, the Northern Ireland international’s early season surge has propelled him to the top of the division’s scoring charts.

Brown responded: “It’s been said a few times over the last few weeks that he’s going to be a top player, and so far, at the start of the season, it looks that way.”
