Princes Street in Edinburgh closed after ‘suspicious package’ delivery.

Police Scotland has set up a cordon, while Scottish Fire and Rescue are on the scene to investigate the parcel.

The main shopping street in Edinburgh has been closed due to suspicions over a “suspicious package”.

Police Scotland stated that the box was delivered to a premises on Princes Street.

The building has been evacuated while the package is being inspected.

A police cordon has been set up, and Princes Street has been closed between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge Street.

A police statement stated: “Around 1pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, we got a complaint that a suspicious parcel had been delivered to a commercial premises on Princes Street in Edinburgh.

“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also present, and the package is being checked.

“There is a cordon in place. There are road closures on Princes Street between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge. “Diversions are in place.”
