QPR v Charlton Athletic team news with 2 outs and 5 doubts as hosts await Ilias Chair news.

Charlton Athletic travel to Loftus Road for the first time in five years on Saturday afternoon.

QPR and Charlton Athletic will hope to rebound from poor losses at Loftus Road this weekend as the two London clubs meet in Championship action.

Last Saturday, Coventry City crushed the R’s, winning 7-1. QPR’s head coach, Julien Stephan, has since apologised to supporters and demanded more from his team.

The Frenchman said: “I can promise you one thing: next week’s game versus Charlton will be absolutely different. We will definitely react next week.

“We made a lot of blunders today. It is intolerable. We’ll think about the upcoming week and how we can respond. This is a major challenge. This is the first time in my career I’ve had to cope with a score like this, but football teaches you a lot.

I just want to promise you that next week will be absolutely different, with a completely different crew. Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two club Cambridge United on Tuesday evening, with Nathan Jones condemning his young team.

The Welshman commented, “I just didn’t see any fight in the atmosphere. Normally, we outwork, press, and outrun teams. Tonight, I can’t recall us doing it.

“I don’t believe anyone took the opportunity to play. Maybe [Ibby] Fullah, because he had one or two high-quality portions, but not the rest.

Look, it’s a makeshift team, we’re not in sync, we changed certain things, and we want guys to earn minutes, so that’s partly on me, but I want us to improve. I expect us to have a significant impact on the game given the quality of players we had.”

QPR team news

Ilias Chair, a QPR winger, missed the 7-1 defeat against Coventry City due to an injury received in training last week. When affirming the need for additional assessment, the club did not specify a time range. Ziyad Larkeche injured his ACL in training earlier this month and will miss several months.

The R’s are still without Jake Clarke-Salter and Michael Frey, who are expected to return to first-team training after the forthcoming international break; the former is recovering from surgery, while the latter is dealing with a calf ailment.

Kwame Poku, who signed this summer, is also anticipated to remain sidelined until after the break due to a hamstring issue. QPR revealed three new signings on Sunday:

returning winger Koki Saito, Sheffield United loanee Rhys Norrington-Davies, and former Newcastle United player Isaac Hayden, who might face Charlton Athletic.

Doubts: Ilias Chair. Outs: Ziyad Larkeche, Jake Clarke-Salter, Michael Frey, and Kwame Poku.
