Witches’ 27-year title party is unaffected by the rain.
Fans of the Ipswich Witches speedway celebrated their team’s championship victory after 27 years despite the rainy weather on Halloween. After defeating Leicester Lions 46–43 earlier this month, the Witches won the British Speedway Premiership title for the first time since 1998. Despite the weather, supporters were eager to display their patriotism as they celebrated on the steps of Ipswich Town Hall. Julian Moore, who has been a supporter since 1969, travelled from Cambridgeshire and predicted that the squad would triumph once more the next season.
“They’re brilliant,” he declared. “They have consistently supported the community and acted as a team. “I don’t live in Ipswich; I’m from Yaxley, and because it’s such a great speedway team to be a part of, many supporters travel from areas other than Ipswich. “It’s been long-awaited, and I’m really proud of them and the town.”At the Corn Hill were Beverley Garnham and Nicki Skeet, whom she introduced to the Ipswich Witches. To ensure they could make it to the festivities, they had returned early from their vacation. “We support the club all the while,” Ms. Garnham declared. When John Louis used to ride for them, I went for the first time in 1972. “We go to all the home matches and unfortunately not many away matches because of work.”
“Ever since I went to the first [race], that was it, and the sound and the fans, it’s great,” Mr. Skeet continued. It’s incredible; it’s like a large family. Up to the final, the team’s race-by-race progress has been the highlight. Sheila Whitehouse, who has been a fan since 1972, arrived with her family. “It’s an incredible club, there are incredible supporters, a wonderful team,” she stated.”They mix and match with all of the supporters and are really amiable. They are excellent riders and good people. Sam Broom, who has been following the club since 2003, was present with his mother, Ms. Whitehouse. “I was only a year old when they last won it,” he clarified. “This season has been amazing, a little nerve-wracking at times, but outstanding. “It’s been a great turnout for riders and supporters.”
