Reading FC favourite seals free transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Yakou Meite, a Reading favourite, has found a new club after leaving Cardiff City and moving to Saudi Arabia.
The 29-year-old scored 47 goals in 165 appearances for the Royals between 2016 and 2023, but left after the club was demoted to League One.
Meite worked for Noel Hunt during his brief term in 2023, and scored the club’s most recent Championship goal in a 1-1 tie with Wigan Athletic.
Moving to Cardiff City, ‘La Brute’ scored five goals in 72 games before leaving Wales following their relegation to the third tier, where he netted three times.
Rumours of a return to Berkshire circulated throughout the summer, with tongues wagging particularly after his performance at the SCL Stadium in May alongside Ovie Ejaria.
However, the Ivory Coast international has confirmed a move to Saudi Arabia to join Damac.
Last season, they finished 14th out of 18 teams in the Saudi Pro League, with former Tottenham Hotspur forward Georges-Kevin Nkoudou leading the scoring with 13 goals.
Their largest attendance was slightly more than 15,000 against Al-Hilal, a team that included Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves, and Aleksander Mitrovic, while as few as 632 fans watched against Al-Kholood.
