Reading FC sell-out allocation of Swindon Town tickets.
Tickets for next month’s highly anticipated derby with Swindon Town sold out before going on general sale.
The Royals and Robins are traditional rivals, but they have not met in a league match in more than 20 years, and they have not played a competitive fixture at the County Ground since 2002.
However, on September 2, the two will face off in Wiltshire for the Vertu Trophy.
While there were hopes that the Stratton Bank would be open in time for the game, allowing for a larger attendance of Reading fans, only 1,010 tickets were sold in the Arkell’s Stand.
The last of these tickets were sold on Wednesday afternoon, during a time when only season ticket holders with more than 500 loyalty points could purchase them.
Reading won 5-0 at the SCL Stadium in their most recent meeting in 2023, with over 6,500 fans in attendance for the EFL Trophy clash, the best-attended fixture in the competition’s entire group stage.
Despite the low overall attendance and the fact that the game was in a ‘lesser competition’, there were clashes between supporters in town and outside of the stadium.
A sold-out crowd of nearly 1,900 Royals fans will travel to Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow for the League One match in Buckinghamshire.
