The League Cup’s second round for Reading FC Women
At Arbour Park in Slough, the Royals defeated Kidlington Youth Ladies 11-1 on Sunday. Nat Cowell, a striker, gave Reading the lead with an unstoppable penalty kick in the first fifteen minutes. Abi Hamyes, Kidlington’s striker, half-volleyed a shot past Webb in the Reading goal to make it 1-1 in response.
However, this would turn out to be their final significant game moment. Cowell made it 2-1 in 33rd minute through a tap in, and then sealed her hat-trick less than an a minute later through a team effort goal that involving Poole and Banduka. The score was 4-1 at the end of the half as Reading’s fourth goal before halftime was scored by winger Banduka.
Kidlington Youth Ladies were unprepared for Reading’s ruthlessness in the second half. Whitburn got her first Royals goal barely one minute into the restart, after ten minutes Cowell picked up her fourth goal in the fixture as she quickly reacted to as the goalie was unable to hold on to a long-range effort from Knight. King made it 7-1 only four minutes later after the defence failed to deal with a ball placed into the penalty box.
Following a tremendous effort by Banduka to chase the ball, Reading right-back Whitburn scored her second goal of the match in the 69th minute. Bolitho scored her first goal of the campaign to make it 9-1 in the 72nd minute, with Manners making it double-digits for the blue and white in the 77th minute to open her account with Reading. Banduka, who had a fantastic game for the Royals, scored her second goal of the match in the final kick to make it 11-1. Reading will now face Penn & Tylers Green in the second round, on Sunday November 30.
On November 23 at 2 p.m., the Royals, who are presently ranked seventh in the Southern Region Premier Division, will return to competitive action when they travel to play the sixth-place Winchester City Flyers in a league game.
