Record as man rides 55 rollercoasters in a week.

A thrill-seeker has set a new Guinness World Record for riding 55 rollercoasters in one week.

Dean Stokes, from Brighton, said he rode 108 rollercoasters at 32 theme parks across the UK in 16 days. The 36-year-old began at Brighton Palace Pier on August 2 and finished at Thorpe Park in Surrey on Sunday.

He wrote on Instagram, “I did it.” I even took an extra victory lap on Hyperia to celebrate.” Mr Stokes set out with the goal of riding 120 rollercoasters across the UK, but he ran into problems less than a third of the way through when strong winds and heavy rain closed down several parks.

There was no current record holder for the most rollercoasters ridden in a week, so Mr Stokes was given a target of 30 to win the inaugural title.

He said he was “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of support, with some people even showing up to ride rollercoasters with him.

He stated that he took on the challenge “to demonstrate that people should simply get out there and do more of what they enjoy.” In preparation for his latest challenge, the rollercoaster enthusiast stated that he had been on over 100 rides at 25 parks in ten countries.
