Resident pays for graffiti clean-up at Rayner flat.
The council has confirmed that a resident has paid to have graffiti cleaned from outside Angela Rayner’s flat in Hove.
The graffiti appeared on a white wall outside the residence earlier this week, after Ms Rayner admitted to underpaying stamp duty on the property.
The 45-year-old resigned as deputy prime minister, housing secretary and deputy Labour Party leader on Friday, following an official investigation into the revelation.
A representative for Brighton & Hove City Council stated on Friday: “Due to security concerns, and in accordance with our policy of removing offensive graffiti, we have removed graffiti reported in Hove. This was paid for by a local.

Ms Rayner’s representative described the vandalism as “totally unjustifiable and beyond the pale” and said it was up to the authorities.
Across the street from her oceanfront flat, “Tax evader Rayner” and “Rayner tax avoidance” were inscribed on construction chipboard.
Ms Rayner’s spokeswoman stated, “This vandalism to residents’ homes is completely unjustifiable and beyond the pale.” “Neither Angela nor her neighbours deserve to be harassed or intimidated.”
“It will rightly be a matter for the police to take action as they deem appropriate.” Peter Kyle, the MP for Hove and Portslade, expressed disappointment about the graffiti.
Mr Kyle, who became Business and Trade Secretary in Friday’s reshuffle, said: “I’m particularly sad that the heritage wall has been defiled for this issue.
Hove is better than this.”

Workers from Brighton & Hove City Council arrived on Thursday afternoon to remove the graffiti, but left after receiving complaints from citizens about how swiftly the clean-up was taking place in comparison to comparable vandalism throughout the city.
On Thursday, a representative for Sussex Police stated, “We have been made aware of graffiti outside an address in Hove.”
“The incident is being investigated as criminal damage, and we are actively seeking information about the facts.
“We will contact the homeowner to identify and address any additional problems. “Anyone with information is asked to contact us.”
