Ross Graham makes long-awaited Dundee United return in bounce game defeat

Ross Graham makes long-awaited Dundee United return in bounce game defeat.

The Tangerines took against Ross County at Tannadice.

Ross Graham made his non-competitive return for Dundee United on Tuesday afternoon after missing four and a half months.

Graham, 24, returned to the United matchday squad for Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Falkirk but did not appear as a substitute.

However, he returned to the Tannadice surface for a low-key bounce game against Championship side Ross County.

Graham’s performance marked his first minutes since suffering a hamstring injury against PEC Zwolle 137 days ago, which necessitated surgery.

And it is reported that he emerged unharmed from the kickabout with the Highlanders, as did fellow returning injury victim Max Watters, making for a fairly successful exercise and food for thought as Jim Goodwin prepares his team to face Kilmarnock.

The Tangerines selected a much-changed XI for the match, which was arranged to benefit Graham and Watters while also providing some action for some United players who had been on the outskirts.

County’s most recent league encounter, last Friday at Queen’s Park, was cancelled at the last minute, therefore they played a strong side in Tayside.

And Tony Docherty’s Staggies triumphed 2-0, although with a clean bill of health. Goodwin’s major objective will be to maintain match fitness.
