Rotherham shooting: Police hunt gunman after early morning shooting on Hope Avenue.

Shots were fired at two residences in Rotherham early Sunday morning, prompting police to respond.

At before 3 a.m. on Sunday (September 21), South Yorkshire Police say a man is thought to have discharged a gun at two residences on Hope Avenue before fleeing on foot.

Although both homes were occupied at the time, no one was wounded. The victim initially assumed the noise was fireworks, but later discovered damage that was more likely caused by gunshots.

At this point, they contacted South Yorkshire Police. Officers were contacted at 7.39 p.m. and arrived at the scene, where they discovered evidence proving a shooting.

Police have stayed on the scene as investigations continue, with neighbourhood officers conducting reassurance patrols in the nearby area. He stated, “Gun crime has no place in our communities, and we will continue to fight tirelessly to identify those involved.

A patrol plan is in place in the region today and in the following days to provide visibility and comfort to people who will be understandably concerned about these events.

“It was only by chance that no one was hurt as a result of this reckless act, which occurred while inhabitants were sleeping in their beds. We are committed to uncover the person guilty and bring them to justice.
