‘Serial toothbrush and Jellycat shoplifter’ jailed for series of offences in East Sussex.

According to a Sussex Police press release, a “serial toothbrush and Jellycat shoplifter” has been sentenced to prison for a number of crimes in East Sussex.

Jason Thorpe, a chronic shoplifter of toothbrushes and Jellycats, has been sentenced to 50 weeks in jail, according to a Sussex Police spokesperson.

Between August 9 and October 28, the 54-year-old, who did not have a permanent address, stole high-value electric toothbrushes, Jellycat soft toys, novels, candles, and other things from shops in Portslade, Hove, and central Brighton.

 

He seems to prefer this particular item, returning to multiple supermarkets during August and removing numerous comparable products from the shelves.

“Thorpe also went into Bert’s Homestore in Hove on August 21, August 23, and September 14, each time leaving with a selection of pricey Jellycat toys without paying.

“In October, additional incidents were reported, including the theft of a number of candles from the Neptune showroom in Hove and the theft of health products from Holland & Barrett in Brighton.”

“Officers investigating the series have identified Thorpe was identified as the culprit and arrested on November 27.
