1. Haymarket
Haymarket, which was previously used to buy and sell hay, is one of Sheffield’s oldest streets.
When this photo was taken in the 1950s, Davy’s food store dominated the scene, with “The Old No 12” restaurant next door and Davy’s Mikado Cafe beyond.
Before the war, the Mikado served an old-style Yorkshire tea for 1s 6d, which included gammon or bacon and an egg. The ancient Brunswick bar may be seen further up Haymarket. Photo via Sheffield Newspapers.

3. Market Hall
The Norfolk Market Hall in Haymarket opened on Christmas Eve 1851 and closed in 1959.
It was erected on the site of the famous old Tontine Inn (1785-1849). From right to left, the shops include G.E. Inman, pastry cooks, Tyler’s, bootmakers, Bunneys (Hosiery) Ltd., drapers, and the popular tobacconists, Tyler and Co., on the corner of Exchange Street.
