The club filed for administration on Friday morning, and the official confirmation followed just after 12 p.m.

Dejphon Chansiri, the club’s owner, has stepped down after more than a decade in charge, following a months-long financial problem.

As a result, Wednesday are set to get an automatic 12-point deduction, boosting their chances of being relegated from League One this season.

The club is currently at the bottom of the Championship, having won only one of their first 11 games this season.
