Sheringham bus shelter blocked from view with metal fencing.
The five-day protest by Sheringham residents seeking to rescue their bus stop from demolition has taken a turn.
Council contractors arrived to the shelter, where protestors have been sleeping since Monday, at dawn today to install metal panels that will screen the demonstration from public view.
The standoff is showing no signs of lessening, with Norfolk County Council increasing the vitriol and calling on demonstrators to leave.
The sheet fencing was erected while demonstrators were inside the 1950s brick construction located outside the North Norfolk Railway.
The protestors want to keep it from being demolished and replaced with a glass and metal “travel hub”.
They’ve been staying there since Monday, when the workers first arrived.
Local companies have provided them with food and sleeping bags.
The standoff has become known as the ‘We Shannock be relocated’ protest, named after the town’s residents.
