Shrewsbury sign former Charlton striker Aneke.
Shrewsbury Town has signed former Charlton striker Chuks Aneke on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old reunites with Shrews manager Michael Appleton for the second time having previously played for him at Charlton, where he scored 27 goals in 138 games across two seasons.
Aneke progressed through Arsenal’s junior ranks, making one League Cup substitute appearance in 2011, and went on loan to Stevenage, Preston, and Crewe before joining Belgian side Waregem in 2014.
Two years later, he returned to England with MK Dons, where he scored 30 goals in 84 league appearances before joining Charlton (twice) and Birmingham on free transfers.
“I worked with the gaffer at Charlton and we had a good time there, got to know each other, and he got in contact,” Aneke told the club’s website, external.
“I like to score goals, I like to get assists, I like to be creative, and I like to influence games.” Shrewsbury overcame Barnet on Saturday for their first League Two win of the season, and they now sit 21st.
