Six people to stand trial accused of trafficking women into Aberdeen for sex work.

Six persons are set to stand trial on charges of trafficking a number of women into Scotland for prostitution.

The group is believed to have been involved in a profitable crime that saw females imported from Romania, primarily to Aberdeen, between January 2023 and December 2024.

Prosecutors believe that advertisements were placed online and agreements were made for men to have sex for paid in a number of city flats. These include Aberdeen’s St Martin’s Lane, Urquhart Road, and Bon-Accord Street. Hotels are also included in the indictment.

According to reports, the organisation “exploited” the 12 listed ladies and other unknown females by using “force, threats, and deception”. Prosecutors allege that the illicit business generated a total of £337,441 in dirty money.

At a hearing at Glasgow’s High Court, Ionut Crsitea, 33, Cosmin Cristea, 21, Laurentiu Raducanu, 30, Cristi Serea, 33, Danut Burcea, 34, and Ionut Raducanu, 29, denied charges under the Human Trafficking and Proceeds of Crime Acts.

Among other claims, the Raducanus allegedly threatened two of the ladies and requested that one of them delete a statement made to police. A trial has been planned to begin in January 2027. The case could last approximately five weeks.

There will be another hearing before then. Lord Arthurson stated that he would suggest assigning a judge to oversee the case’s preparation and preside over its trial.
