Sunderland Manager Admits He’s Keen to Reunite With Lazio Midfielder.
Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris wants to reunite with Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who is no longer considered untouchable.
The 26-year-old joins the Italian city in the summer of 2023 at the request of Maurizio Sarri. However, he played his finest football at the Stadio Olimpico last season, under Marco Baroni’s supervision.
This season, the Frenchman has struggled in the middle of the park, maybe due to the absence of Nicolo Rovella.

As a result, several sources in the Italian press have claimed that Lazio is no longer keen to keep the former Arsenal and Marseille player at any cost and is open to offers.
Matteo Guendouzi on the Radars of Several Premier League Clubs
Guendouzi had previously drawn interest from numerous Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
However, more recent claims have linked him to high-flying Sunderland, who are presently fourth in the Premier League rankings.

Le Bris confirmed these linkages during a pre-match press conference on Thursday (via Border Telegraph).
The 49-year-old acknowledged that he would like to work with the midfielder again, having previously oversaw his development at Lorient’s academy.
Guendouzi’s Lazio Contract & Asking Price
Gundouzi’s contract with Lazio runs until June 2028 and includes a €50 million release clause. Nonetheless, some believe Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani have reduced the asking price to €25-30 million.
