“The answer is no”: Norwich City majority shareholder confirms Liam Manning stance

The controlling shareholder of Norwich City affirms Liam Manning’s position: “The answer is no.”

After Johannes Hoff Thorup left the team late in the previous season, Norwich City turned to Liam Manning as his permanent replacement, giving him a lot of support during the summer transfer window. However, that faith hasn’t paid off as the Canaries continue to struggle for consistency; Saturday’s loss to Swansea City was their eighth in 12 games, extending their terrible run to five straight losses.

With just eight points on the board, Manning’s team is currently in 23rd place in the Championship. The team’s poor start has caused the NCFC supporters to become increasingly irate, and their tolerance for Manning is wearing thin. Despite this, the club’s ownership continues to publicly support the head coach in the hopes that he can turn things around, and they have now confirmed their support for Manning through majority shareholder Mark Attanasio.

When a fan asked Attanasio about Manning during a special edition of BBC Radio Norfolk’s Canary Call phone-in, he responded, “The answer is no. There is no plan to sack Liam. We hired Liam because of his record as an English football coach. We brought in a lot of players.” Liam Manning’s Championship statistics for Norwich City

Additionally, he offered support to Sporting Director Ben Knapper, who has faced intense criticism. “They are really hard workers, they have high integrity, and Liam left a really good job [at Bristol City] to come here,” he stated. When asked about the possibility of relegation during Norwich City’s difficulties, Attanasio replied, “Relegation is not an option.”
