The Ball Darnall: See inside the Sheffield pub back on market amid hopes for community use.

It was a popular Sheffield bar for generations, and photos reveal how The Ball in Darnall currently looks inside, decades after it closed. The bar has been relisted for sale after a previous bid to buy it in an auction nearly three years ago fell through due to a lack of financing.

The facility, located on the crossroads of Darnall Road and Basford Road, is now for sale again for up to £325,000, with the owner hoping to find someone interested in taking it over for community use.

The Ball Inn was restored in 1904, and the red brick structure is Grade II-listed for its outstanding architectural characteristics. The images below reveal how The Ball today looks behind its magnificent exterior, years after drinkers last drank there. According to estate agent Phil Williams, director of Yopa Property, “the owner would love to see it sold to someone for community use.”

He stated that there was already interest in the building, notably from charities, but that the buyers will determine its use. He stated that it may be used as a restaurant. The estate agents’ description of the building states that it is an imposing edifice of substantial character and architectural interest dating from the early 1900s. They further reported: “Full planning permission was granted on December 7, 2004, for’alterations to a public house for use as a restaurant at the cellar and ground floors, residential accommodation first and second floors and offices in roof space.”

However, they advise anyone interested in purchasing the building to contact Sheffield Council planning officials about any intentions for it. You can bid on the property through Yopa Property.
