Toddler taken to hospital after being hit by a car.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene on Saturday evening.
A toddler was transported to the hospital after being struck by a car on Saturday evening. Just before 8 p.m., police and an ambulance were called to Canaston Place in Caerau, Cardiff, after reports of a car colliding with a toddler.
The toddler was transported to the hospital as a precaution, with police stating that “it is not believed they suffered any injuries.” Local neighbours have expressed worries about traffic safety in the neighbourhood. A
spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police was called at 7.50 p.m. on Saturday night to investigate an accident between a car driver and a youngster on Canaston Place, Caerau, Cardiff.
The toddler was transported to the hospital by ambulance as a precaution, but no injuries are thought to have occurred.
As a result of this crash, and in response to the heavy police presence on September 20, local residents and councillors have expressed continued worries about road safety in the region.
Cardiff councillor for the Caerau Ward, Peter Bradbury, said: “I am aware of the concerns voiced about speeding on Heol Trelai following the incident on Saturday involving a young girl.
“The council has constructed a crossing and other safety measures, but I believe there should be a speed camera between Caerau Lane and that stretch of road. “I wrote to the council following the incident on Saturday to convey my concerns, which I share with the community.
GoSafe Wales should look into it, since I believe there is a strong justification for installing a speed camera here. “There is a real problem with cars driving way too quickly and something needs to be put in place to stop it.”
