WANTING MORR
Aberdeen reject £600k bid from English club for key star as two offers booted out.
Aberdeen have rejected two bids for Shayden Morris from English League One club Luton Town.
Hatters manager Matt Bloomfield offered £600,000 in an attempt to get the 23-year-old out of Pittodrie.
However, Dons officials have informed them that Morris will not be leaving for a return south at that price. Last season, the ex-Fleetwood Town winger was a key player for Jimmy Thelin, frequently coming on as a substitute.
Morris’ shot squirmed under Celtic custodian Kasper Schmeichel for the shock equaliser in last season’s Scottish Cup final, which the Dons eventually won on penalties.
Aberdeen needs a strong squad capable of performing on two fronts, so losing the attacker is not an option.
And, with millions of dollars set to be made from playing in either the Europa League or Conference groups, they’re under no obligation to sell at a price they believe is below market value.
Luton have already made two bids, both of which have been rejected, so it remains to be seen whether they will return with a better offer.
Morris is under contract for another year, having signed a four-year deal in 2022 when he joined Jim Goodwin. He has informed Aberdeen that he is willing to discuss an extension, but no new contract has yet been agreed upon.
