What are Aberdeen high street changes as vacancy hits two-year low?

We went on foot to check how the 640 units in Aberdeen’s high street and shopping centres had altered.

Aberdeen’s high street vacancy rate has dropped to a two-year low.

The average rate across 11 Granite City streets has reduced to 18.5%, according to our most recent on-foot census in August.

However, our census includes Aberdeen’s ever-changing shopping centres, where the vacancy rate has marginally increased. On average, little over one in every 10 apartments in the centres was empty, the lowest level in the last two years.

However, this is still a decrease from the vacancy rate in August 2023, when roughly one in every five apartments was vacant.

However, the number of vacant properties is not the only factor influencing the health of our high street.
