‘What do you want me to do?!’ – Calvin Bassey claims Man Utd’s goal against Fulham should have been disallowed
‘What do you want me to do?!’ – Calvin Bassey claims Man Utd’s goal against Fulham should have been disallowed.
Calvin Bassey has claimed that Manchester United’s goal against Fulham should have been disallowed after Leny Yoro pushed him away from the ball. The Cottagers came from behind to snatch a point from the Red Devils as Rodrigo Muniz’s own goal was cancelled out by Emile Smith Rowe, who scored the equaliser with his very first touch after coming on as a substitute.
WHAT HAPPENED?
United took the lead just before the hour mark with Yoro’s deflected header from a Bryan Mbeumo corner. Muniz inadvertently diverted the ball into the net, resulting in an unfortunate own goal for Fulham. The home side protested the decision, claiming Yoro pushed Bassey in the back before jumping to win the header.
WHAT BASSEY SAID
Speaking to reporters after the game, the Fulham star said: “It is enough for me not to be able to win the ball, and it is an advantage for him.” It should have been prohibited.
When the referee looks back, I believe they will be disappointed. I can’t say too much, or I’ll get fined! “This is a foul. When approaching a jump, even a minor touch can deter you.
He wasn’t trying to speak to me; he was trying to speak to my captain. What do you want me to do? Get on the floor. It’s enough that I can’t win the ball.”
