What’s happened to Tyrhys Dolan since swapping Blackburn Rovers for Spain

What’s happened to Tyrhys Dolan since swapping Blackburn Rovers for Spain.

Blackburn Rovers were unable to keep Tyrhys Dolan at Ewood Park beyond the summer, as the winger chose to end his contract with the club and has since moved to Catalonia.

Blackburn Rovers’ season has been unpredictable.

The former Premier League champions are at the bottom of the EFL Championship standings, risking relegation to the third division for the second time in less than a decade.

Valerien Ismael has been fired from his post in the Ewood Park dugout, after overseeing a disastrous sequence of results that has placed the team in a vulnerable position.

Dom Hyam, Lewis Travis, Callum Brittain, and Tyryhs Dolan all left the club over the summer, with Dolan’s departure being particularly significant, as the 24-year-old opted to run out his contract.

Dolan has since signed for Spanish top-flight club Espanyol, where he has had mixed fortunes.

Dolan’s decision to leave Blackburn sparked interest in the small forward.

According to Alan Nixon, Bristol City, Derby County, and Middlesbrough have all expressed an interest in signing Dolan when his contract expires, as have clubs in Greece and Turkey.

However, Dolan signed a three-year contract with La Liga club Espanyol.

The Englishman has failed to score for the club in 21 league games, having started 16 of them. He has three assists, however.

Espanyol has experienced a recent dip in popularity

orm following a fantastic start to the season, with the club in the thick of a battle for a European spot in the top tier of the table.

Although Dolan has yet to score for his new club, he has made a positive impression with the Spanish side, displaying comparable flair and skill to his time with Blackburn in the Championship.

Dolan might find himself playing European football next season, and with Blackburn potentially relegated to League One, he is unlikely to have many regrets about leaving the club.

Tyrhys Dolan will have few regrets over the decision to leave Blackburn Rovers for Espanyol

Given Blackburn’s troubles this season, Dolan will probably have few regrets about his decision to quit the club.

Dolan, who has made over 200 appearances for Blackburn in all competitions and scored 26 goals and assisted 22 others, turned down a new contract to pursue a career abroad.

Blackburn is one of the league’s lowest-scoring clubs, and the squad has endured a slew of injuries this season, so they could use someone like Dolan in attack.

However, they will have to make do without their former hero, as their status as a Championship club hangs by a thin thread.
