Wolves Make Approach for Title-Winning Portuguese Manager

According to ESPN Brazil, Wolves have reached out to Palmeiras head coach Abel Ferreira in an effort to replace Vitor Pereira.

According to reports, the Portuguese manager turned down the Molineux team’s offer since he is currently focused on his season in Brazil and has no intention of leaving Palmeiras.

Ferreira, a former manager of Braga and PAOK, is now in his fifth season with the Brazilian team, which he led to two league crowns in 2022 and 2023 as well as two Copa Libertadores victories in 2020 and 2021.

Additionally, Ferreira is thought to have turned down an offer from Nottingham Forest earlier this season, when the City Ground team was trying to find a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 46-year-old is reportedly earning a “elite” salary at Palmeiras, making it hard for even the best teams in the world to get him to leave Brazil.

Pereira left Wolves after the team’s 3-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday. The team is currently at the bottom of the Premier League standings and hasn’t won any of its first ten games this season.

Under the Portuguese boss, the Molineux team has only won twice in 13 games in all competitions this season. Both victories came in the Carabao Cup, where Chelsea eliminated them last Wednesday in the round of 16.

In December of last year, Pereira succeeded Gary O’Neil as manager of Wolves, leading the West Midlands team to 16th place in his debut year.

After a challenging summer for the team, when important players Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha left for Manchester City and Manchester United, respectively, Wolves rewarded the 57-year-old with a new three-year deal in September.

There were clauses that permitted Wolves to fire Pereira without having to pay out the entire three years of his new contract, as GIVEMESPORT previously revealed. Rather, he will only be compensated for this season.
