Woman raped in Dundee city centre hostel.
Police say they are pursuing a ‘positive line of inquiry’. Police have opened an investigation after a woman was raped in a Dundee hostel.
Officers were called to Dundee Backpackers Hostel on High Street at 5 a.m. on Sunday. It is believed that personnel were ignorant of the occurrence until police came.
One city centre worker told The Courier that she noticed a police presence just before 7 a.m., and cops remained on the area for several hours. She elaborated:
“While it’s not unusual to see police in the city centre, they were at the hostel for a number of hours, and I saw them coming in and out of the doorway.”
Police ‘following positive line of inquiry’ following rape at Dundee hostel
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said that the incident occurred at 5 a.m. on Sunday and that detectives are following a “positive line of inquiry”. She said:
“Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, November 30, officers received a report of a serious sexual assault on High Street in Dundee.
“Officers are following a positive line of inquiry.” The staff at Dundee Backpackers Hostel declined to comment.
