Hibs left with mixed emotions after Dundee thriller as David Gray admits: ‘I have to be careful’.

Hibs concede in stoppage time after coming back from 2-1 down to lead 3-2. Hibs bossDavid Grey acknowledged that the thrilling 3-3 Premiership draw against Dundee at Dens Park felt like a defeat.

And it’s no surprise, given that Leith led 3-2 in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Cam Congreve, the home winger, scored an excellent equaliser at that point.

Dundee had earlier scored twice through Simon Murray and Luke Graham, while Hibs’ goals came from Owen Elding, Ante Suto, and Jamie McGrath.

Grey grumbled because his team had only one point despite scoring three times. “To be honest, I’m experiencing conflicting emotions.I believe it feels like defeat when you lose a goal in the final seconds.

I think that’s natural given that it’s the final kick of the game.” Hibs took the lead when Nicky Cadden crossed from the left and Elding headed home from close range past Dundee custodian Jon McCracken.

However, Dundee equalised in the 15th minute when Graham found Murray inside the Hibs area, and the striker turned Rocky Bushiri and fired a shot that deflected in off the defender.

The visitors increased the tempo in the second half, but Elding, Felix Passlack, and McGrath all squandered good chances.

Instead, Dundee gained the lead in the 72nd minute when Drey Wright supplied a fantastic cross, which Graham hammered high past custodian Raphael Sallinger at the back post.

Hibs equalised in the 84th minute when Suto controlled a ball from fellow substitute Martin Boyle and slid a goal under McCracken, and McGrath added Hibs’ third just five minutes later, slipping past a number of players before firing a low shot past McCracken.

However, in the fifth minute of added time, Congreve’s brilliant half-volley from the edge of the Hibs box sailed past Sallinger, ensuring a draw.

“Take nothing away from Dundee’s point-scoring strike. I thought it was a huge hit.I was just behind it. “I knew as soon as he hit it, it was going in,” Grey said.

“But I think the story of the day for us is that we’ve come to a really difficult place and had to score three goals to gain a point because that’s where we’ve let ourselves down, on the defensive side of things.

“Unfortunately, the sensation we have right now is that we have been in this situation before, and it is something we will confront and consider.

“I have to be careful since the players’ morale is quite low as a result of the last-minute goal loss. However, there is overall accountability to ensure that we learn from the experience and strive to improve.”

Dundee manager Steven Pressley could not be prouder of his players after they fought till the end.

“For 80 minutes, I believed we were great.”It’s easy for a team to fall apart after losing two goals, but we responded in amazing fashion,” he remarked.

“It said a lot about the group and the spirit that after that setback we managed to salvage a point so I couldn’t be prouder.”
