Bloomfield eyes further signings as Hatters boss is determined to make Luton stronger.

Town has made six additions in the transfer window so far.

Despite signing three players last week, Luton manager Matt Bloomfield is still working hard to strengthen his squad for the upcoming League One season.

Town had already signed Kal Naismith, George Saville, and Jake Richards prior to their trip to Slovenia, but they then doubled their summer signings in a single day, announcing the signings of former Bristol City striker Nahki Wells and Rotherham United defensive midfielder Hakeem Odoffin on free transfers, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers centre half Nigel Lonwijk on a season-long loan.

With Reece Burke, Thelo Aasgaard, Carlton Morris, Thomas Kaminski, Daiki Hashioka, and Bim Pepple already gone, there is room for the Hatters to add, with one spot currently available, and Bloomfield is definitely looking to do so, as he stated on the club’s official YouTube channel last week:

“I’ve just returned from a meeting with another player as we try to strengthen the squad.

“We’re working hard to achieve that goal, and we won’t stop. We’re still focused on getting stronger. We’re very pleased with the boys’ efforts, but we’re completely focused on getting stronger in three weeks when we face AFC Wimbledon.”

Although six players have come in and six have left, there are still rumours about the futures of Teden Mengi, Tahith Chong, Marvellous Nakamba, and Tom Holmes, with all four potentially moving on, as club chairman David Wilkinson expects things to remain busy at Kenilworth Road before the window closes at 7pm on Monday, September 1.

He added, “Obviously, we are still looking to strengthen the squad in certain areas, and I believe the window is becoming a little more active.”

It’s unfortunate for me that it’s open for so long, and I feel sorry for the manager that he’ll have to deal with an open window for a month after the season begins, but we’ll handle it.”
