This summer, Watford has been active in the transfer market, bringing in Nathan Baxter, James Abankwah, Hector Kyprianou, Othmane Maamma, and Vivaldo Semedo, with Luca Kjerrumgaard and Caleb Wiley on the way.

Bayern took note of Irankunda’s performances at Adelaide United, where he scored 16 goals in 61 games, and brought him to Germany in the summer of 2024.

The winger did not play for the first team, but did score four goals and assist four times for Bayern Munich II before spending the second half of the season on loan at Swiss top-flight club Grasshopper Zurich.

Irankunda has also made five appearances for Australia, becoming the second youngest player to score for the Socceroos at the age of 18 years and 123 days against Palestine in June 2024.

Now he’s off to England, where he’ll join a talented group of forwards looking to propel Watford into the Premier League.
