Enzo Barrenechea is on the verge of joining Benfica from Aston Villa in a €15m deal, allowing his former club Juventus to earn €1.5m.

Argentine midfielder Barrenechea is expected to join Benfica from Aston Villa in an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy tied to certain conditions.

Based on the stated €15 million value of the transfer package, Juventus will make about €1.5 million, according to Goal.com.

The 2024–25 season saw the former Frosinone and Juventus midfielder play on loan at Valencia, where he made 33 appearances in all competitions, recording one goal and two assists.

Barrenechea will not debut for Aston Villa.

Barrenechea will therefore depart Aston Villa without playing a game for the Premier League team.

The 24-year-old midfielder has made 39 games in Serie A, including 36 for Frosinone and three with Juventus.

Romano claims that Benfica has already scheduled his medical examinations and that the midfield player will sign a deal that would last until 2030.
