Portsmouth to ‘seal Mark Kosznovszky deal in days’ after £1.3m breakthrough

Portsmouth to ‘seal Mark Kosznovszky deal in days’ after £1.3m breakthrough.

Mark Kosznovszky appears to be closing in on a move to Portsmouth. John Mousinho is looking for a Freddie Potts replacement after the loanee returned to West Ham at the end of the season.

The former Burton Albion player appears to have found it in the MTK Budapest star, who scored three goals and assisted three times last season.

The 23-year-old is the Fratton Park club’s top target, and the most recent update from Hungary suggests that a move is imminent.

Portsmouth set to sign Kosznovszky as £1.5m deal agreed

Portsmouth faced competition for Kosznovszky’s signature, but it appears that they have won the battle for his services.

According to CzakFoci (16 July), Pompey have reached an agreement with the Hungarians to pay a £1.3 million fee.

It says they’re negotiating the final details, and the transfer could be official in the coming days.

Portsmouth finally give to MTK demands

Kosznovszky seemed destined to move to England, having previously stated that he wanted to play in the country.

It was simply a matter of whether Pompey could meet the Budapest outfit’s demands for a seven-figure sum, which he initially questioned.

It could be a risk for Mousinho and his team to spend such a large sum on an unknown quantity, especially given their limited budget.

A fee in excess of £1 million is risky, especially if the player has no prior experience in English football, but previous success stories at Fratton Park have proven otherwise.

It could be a stroke of genius if he gets off to a good start, and fans will be hoping that Kosznovszky and Adrian Segecic can make an immediate impact in the Championship.

It’s encouraging to see the Eisners willing to back Mousinho in the transfer market, as he’s earned it after outperforming expectations in recent years.

They hope to get him in quickly so he can train with his new teammates and adjust to the new style of football he will be playing.

However, if he performs at the level that Mousinho expects, it could be a coup for the PO4 team.
