Update on Leeds United star’s suspension – Former Premier League referee speaks

After Leeds United signed Lukas Nmecha, their second signing of the summer was arguably the biggest. The Whites announced the arrival of Jaka Bijol from Udinese.
One of Serie A’s more underappreciated defenders had been the Slovenian international. He placed in the top five for aerial duels won during the previous season. According to Leeds sources, he was signed mostly because of his physicality and athleticism.
Former PGMOL referee Keith Hackett made a suggestion as soon as Bijol came that the defender could struggle to adjust to the refereeing in England. Hackett thought the Slovenian’s aggressive and physically strong defending style may result in several cards during his rookie campaign:
“It’s a fantastic Leeds acquisition,
For what reason has he been given yellow cards? Dissent, if it exists, may be controlled. It is up to the referee if it is because of the way he challenges.
Leeds United star suspended for first Premier League game

Bijol’s suspension for the season’s opening Premier League match has been confirmed, according to YEP’s Graham Smyth. In his last Serie A match of the season, the defender was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
He will only be eligible following the first game against Everton because he will carry over his one-game suspension.
Former referee shares appeal update
Questions were raised by the report over Leeds’ ability to address the ban. What can be done regarding the issue has been given by the former referee.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he stated, “The fact that it is two yellow cards closes off any ability for Leeds United to appeal.”
“FIFA, the governing body, is thinking of proposing to the IFAB let VAR review second yellow cards.
What if the first yellow is the contentious incident and it’s wrong? That’s the challenge I see.
“I see that as the proposal’s weakness.”
Should Jaka Bijol tone down his aggression in English football?
Bijol received 13 yellow cards in Serie A last season. He has 26 in the last three seasons combined. Given how erratic Premier League referees are, there is reason for alarm in this situation.
In order to help Bijol manage his defensive play in England, Daniel Farke and the technical staff will need to step in. Otherwise, the new signing’s debut season can be a bit chaotic.
