Huddersfield Town’s high-profile recruit has already bought into club plan

Having put money into the new project, Lynden Gooch hopes to see Huddersfield Town get back on track. After leaving Stoke City at the end of the previous season, the American signed a three-year deal with the Terriers.

With Huddersfield, he aspires to repeat his former success of getting promoted from League One with Sunderland. Despite their poor on-field performance in recent seasons, Town has a new head coach and a fresh plan for the team’s future that includes their most recent acquisition, Gooch.

They plan to make amends this time around for their 2024 Championship relegation and their failed attempt to return to the second tier the following season.
Gooch wants to be a part of the club’s coaching staff and management because he believes they have the drive to move the team forward once more.

“This has been going on for a few weeks now,” the 29-year-old said. I’m glad to be here; this is a great opportunity. Lastly, I’m looking forward to it because we want to get back to the Championship as soon as possible.

“I just want to resume playing regularly and enjoying football after a horrible couple of years at my previous club. In our conversation a few weeks ago, the manager made it apparent that he wanted me to stay in the building and play a significant role for the club going forward—not just now, but in the long run. I am so happy to be here.

“I think it’s clear how ambitious the club’s owner and leadership are. They have expressed their desire to leave the league. They’ve already brought in some really talented players, and I hope I can help them and prove myself to everyone.

When Sunderland was in League One, Gooch scored goals frequently. He hopes to do the same at Huddersfield by providing speed and creativity on the flank.

Although he has defensive duties as a full-back as well, he believes that his application will win over the fans and help the team reach their goals.

“I’m excited to come back to Austria and start training again,” he added. Naturally, pre-season is just a few weeks away, so I’m excited to visit and get to know all of the staff and men.

Actually, I’m all activity. Moving forward and trying to create with a lot of balls in the box is something I want to do. I’m hoping to achieve that, but I have to defend as well because I’m the starting right back. I like to dive in and participate on the field. For the shirt, I’d be willing to pay anything.

“I think a sizable section of the fan base will want to see advancement, and I want to help with that. We anticipate a challenging season. The League One season this year, in my opinion, will be more evenly distributed than the one last year.

“We must stay together even if we will go through highs and lows. Success is what we all want to achieve.
