Senior club officials have been persuaded by a number of Blackburn Rovers fan groups, led by BRFC Action Group, not to attend the team’s last eight games.
They’re asking Chief Executive Steve Waggott, COO Suhail Pasha, and Head of Football Rudy Gestede to avoid Rovers games till the end of the season under the slogan ‘enough is enough’.
In addition to mounting off-field worries, fans have become irate over what they believe to be a lack of communication and leadership from the board and Venky’s owners. They have therefore started this campaign to bring about change at Ewood Park.
“Unity is crucial for success in these pivotal weeks, so we are making this request with the club’s best interests in mind. Concerns over the handling of player assets, dwindling matchday attendance, and claims of executive pay hikes amid a time of significant uncertainty for the club have all contributed to the growing annoyance of supporters.
The larger football community is aware that the Rao family is not honoring their promise to “respect the Jack Walker legacy.” This has led to a growing yearning for new ownership and a growing sense that Jack Walker’s legacy is gradually being undermined.
“This appeal is a call for unity and a common dedication to our ultimate goal: getting promoted to the Premier League. It is not personal.
“We remain fully committed to Blackburn Rovers and will continue working alongside supporters old and new, to ensure a brighter future for the club, one built on the values of our greatest supporter, Jack Walker.”
