Ipswich Town: Kieran McKenna on Brentford bids for Omari Hutchinson.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has declined to comment on the future of Brentford transfer target Omari Hutchinson.

The 22-year-old attacker has not been away with the squad for a training camp in Austria this week, having been given some extra time off following his star performance for England in their successful European Under-21 Championship campaign.

Brentford had multiple bids for him rejected by the Blues earlier this week – a £35 million relegation release clause had not yet been triggered before it expired – but the Bees are expected to return to the negotiating table once Bryan Mbeumo’s big money move to Manchester United is completed.

“Omari is enjoying a well-deserved vacation,” McKenna said. “There have obviously been interested parties in Omari, which is understandable given what he’s done.

But he is still an Ipswich Town player. “My entire focus has been on the group that is here. We’re hoping to catch up with Omari next week.

Meanwhile, McKenna confirmed that captain Sam Morsy is close to signing a free transfer to Kuwait SC.

Liam Delap, Axel Tuanzebe, Cameron Burgess, and Massimo Luongo are among the players who have left Portman Road since the club’s relegation from the Premier League, joining David Button, Cedric Kipre, and Azor Matusiwa.
McKenna, whose side begins their Championship campaign at Birmingham in less than three weeks, says he expects’movement in both directions’ before the transfer window closes September 1.
