Bradford City boss Graham Alexander on why travel sickness will not be an issue in 2025-26.

GRAHAM Alexander is confident that Bradford City’s travel sickness will not have any lingering effects in 2024-25. On Saturday, City will travel to Northampton Town for the first time this season in League One.

While last season was ultimately a joyous and memorable one, the club’s away record was disappointing, with only five league wins in 23 matches.

For his part, Alexander believes that a new-look Bantams side in 2025-26 will ensure that there are no psychological issues from the previous season in the new campaign.

He said, “It is something from the past. As you saw last Saturday, only two outfield players started from last season’s final game.

“Hopefully we’ll have improved on all those aspects that go on away from home.” There were some circumstances in a couple of games (last season) that were entirely our fault, and we had to accept the consequences.

“We still demonstrated that we are a highly competitive team.” The margins in the games were extremely close.

Alexander is also aware that games against City were marquee fixtures for home sides in the fourth tier last season, providing an extra advantage.

In his opinion, the presence of a number of rival big clubs in League One has changed the game. Furthermore, Alexander continued:

“In League Two last season we were possibly the biggest club in the division and there was all the emotion around it for the home team when we turn up with the numbers we take.” However, there are big clubs this season who fancy themselves as well and may not see us as the biggest fish in the division.
