Portsmouth fans still talk about it’: Watford forward expecting frosty Fratton Park reception ahead of reunion

Portsmouth fans still talk about it’: Watford forward expecting frosty Fratton Park reception ahead of reunion.

Kwadwo Baah is ready to reunite with Pompey fans for the first time since the controversial Boxing Day match.

Kwadwo Baah is expecting a cold greeting when he meets Pompey this evening. And the Watford attacker has made it clear that he believes supporters who abuse players should be able to tolerate it.

The Hornets travel to Fratton Park this evening, with the 22-year-old in contention despite suffering a shoulder injury against Hull City last time out.

It’s set to be the first time Baah will come up against John Mousinho’s men since Boxing Day’s highly-controversial fixture, which saw him at the centre of attention at Vicarage Road.

After Watford scored in stoppage time, the former Crystal Palace player went directly to the visiting Fratton fans and performed the ‘take the L’ dance from Fortnight.

Having previously received a yellow card, the winger was sent off after the final whistle, prompting a violent reaction from the Blues manager, his players, and supporters. Want to read exclusive analysis and opinions from Neil Allen and Jordan Cross?

Watford forward Kwadwo Baah on Pompey reunion

With a possible reunion on the horizon this evening, Baah isn’t expecting a warm greeting from Pompey fans, but is certain that supporters should be prepared to accept what they’re given. Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game, the Watford player added:

‘I’ve spoken many times in different interviews. When I go there, I won’t get a very good response. ‘Obviously, I was injured last season, so I didn’t get to go, but I do enjoy it when fans send it to me. It demonstrates that I’m doing something right on the pitch.

I am not a serious person, so it was just some light-hearted banter on my part. It happened a year ago, and I’m amazed Portsmouth supporters are still talking about it now.

WATCH: Pompey’s John Mousinho speaks to The News ahead of their midweek game against Watford at Fratton Park. ‘Some fans may disagree, but my perspective is that if the fans give it to you, we’re all humans with feelings.

“It should be fair that we could give it back to the fans, not because we are footballers and should be considered professionals.” I just find it humorous. Aside from that, I regard it as a bit of banter.

‘As a footballer, I’ve always told myself that I won’t change anything. There are degrees to it, but I don’t want to appear robotic; instead, I’ll show some individuality.

‘Players need to loosen up and show some personality, and spectators should be able to handle it.’ Your next Pompey read: Portsmouth probable XI and bench against.
