Cleverley not worried by Issaka’s lack of game time.
Plymouth Argyle manager Tom Cleverley is unconcerned by Freddie Issaka’s limited playing time during his loan spell at Bristol Rovers.
The Wales youth international winger has made only two late substitute appearances for the Pirates since joining the League Two club on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old is on a season-long contract at the Memorial Stadium and has made 38 appearances for Argyle in all competitions.
“Freddie’s been here since eight, nine years old, and Freddie’s probably always been viewed as the young player, the academy product, the star boy coming through,” says Cleverley.
“You can get a little bubble wrapped. Freddie is out there now, and he needs to go prove to a management, knock on a manager’s door, and say, “Why am I not playing? What do I have to do to accomplish that? “He has to do it.
If they need a goal, he needs to step up and be dependable. It’s all an important part of Freddie’s education.
Not every loan move is optimal. “I have no reservations about sending a player somewhere where it’s going to be tougher.”
