Alexander Isak’s latest contract demand has left Newcastle United in shock

TBR Football believes Alexander Isak is seeking a weekly salary of almost £300,000, which has surprised Newcastle United.

What Newcastle United have told Alexander Isak as contract demand ...

Newcastle United initiated talks with Isak early this summer, acknowledging that their prized asset is on a contract that does not reflect his status.

The Swede is now much behind their top earner, Bruno Guimaraes, who earns more than £150,000 each week.

As previously reported by TBR Football, Newcastle are prepared to make Isak the highest-paid player in club history, breaking with their current wage structure.

Alexander Isak: Newcastle must offer contract striker deserves

Exclusive: Newcastle United will struggle to match Alexander Isak’s contract demands.

Newcastle have been looking at salaries closer to £200,000 per week, but Alexander Isak’s recent demands appear to be far beyond what the club is willing to accommodate, according to Graeme Bailey, chief correspondent at TBR Football.

Isak, who Liverpool approached earlier this month, had talks about a new deal postponed last summer when Anthony Gordon was given a new contract, which TBR Football understands did not sit well with his camp.

However, Isak has expressed a willingness to consider new terms, despite his supporters’ insistence that he be recognized as one of Europe’s finest attackers.

The striker’s current contract expires in 2028, so there isn’t much pressure on the Magpies to negotiate a new one right now.

Isak’s agent recently told Saudi Arabian publication Arriyadiyah: “We are already studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player.”

‘The next step’ could refer to a move away, staying for another season at St James’ Park, or even signing a new deal.

Liverpool’s signing of Hugo Ekitike also alleviates some of their pressure, as the Reds were one of the main contenders for the 25-year-old player.

Meanwhile, Arsenal backed out of a deal for Isak earlier this summer due to competing offers and the striker’s high price. The Gunners are poised to sign Viktor Gyokeres instead.

The Saudi Pro League would love to get him to the Middle East, but the striker isn’t interested at this point in his career.

Sources: Newcastle remains adamant. Alexander Isak will not be sold.

Despite the significant valuation gap, TBR Football can confirm that Newcastle will not sell Isak this summer.

The Tyneside club is still looking for a partner for the Swedish international, who can either play alongside him or give him a chance to relax during games.

Eddie Howe’s squad is in need of another number nine after Callum Wilson left.

TBR Football has discovered that Yoane Wissa remains a Newcastle target, and negotiations with Brentford about a trade have already begun.

The Bees are thought to be asking for £50 million for Wissa, although the Congolese attacker is expected to fetch closer to £40 million.
