Alli hails close friend Nordas for staying strong during Luton goal drought.

The Norwegian striker has scored two goals in two games for the Hatters. Luton attacker Milli Alli complimented Town teammate Lasse Nordas for dealing with his difficult start to life in English football.

The 23-year-old joined the Hatters in January when they were still in the Championship, having previously played for Tromso in Norway’s Eliteserien league.

He was immediately tasked with trying to score the goals that would keep Town in the division; however, it quickly became clear that this would not be the case, as after missing a glorious chance on his full debut against Plymouth Argyle, the ex-Norwegian U21 international went on to play a bit part in the side, making 10 appearances, eight of which came from the bench.

With Town struggling to remain afloat in the second division, they were relegated to League One this season, while Nordas was left out of the squad for the first few games, with attacker Cauley Woodrow named on the bench instead.

After starting the Carabao Cup exit at Coventry City, he saw his role grow, making cameo appearances against Bradford City and Wigan before starting the 1-0 loss to Cardiff City.

Nordas, who had hit the post in the 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic, led the line alongside Jerry Yates at Burton Albion and only had to wait 18 minutes to get his name on the scoresheet.

After being found by Zack Nelson’s pass, he drew back his left foot from just inside the box and unleashed a firm effort towards goal that took a slight nick and went through Brewers keeper Jordan Amissah, the striker quickly engulfed by his overjoyed teammates.

Alli spoke about how he felt throughout his long wait to open his Hatters account, saying, “Lasse is also a very close friend of mine.” We’ve seen how hard he’s worked in training, so seeing him score a goal makes me extremely happy.
He’s really strong psychologically, and he’s still working extremely hard; you just have to keep working till your opportunity comes.
It arrived, and he took it really well. that always helps when supporters sing your name; they support you, and that goes a long way.”
Nordas had shown plenty of signs of his eye for goal during pre-season, scoring a number of times for the Hatters in warm-up games, and manager Matt Bloomfield was delighted to see that come through in a competitive encounter for the first time, saying: “I think that his finishing is a very strong part of his game.
We’ve seen that every time he gets a chance to use his left foot in training since he arrived in January.
It’s unfortunate for him and us as a football club that things haven’t clicked yet, but he’s still adjusting to the nation, the level, and everything that comes with it.
He’s shown some pretty positive signs this season, and we’re quite thrilled for him.” Nelson, the teammate who set up the ex-Bodo Glimt kid in Staffordshire, said of the goal:
“It’s been tough for Lasse because he hasn’t got off the mark right away, but he’s been putting in the hard work, and I’m glad for him as well; I’m buzzing.”
After opening his account, Nordas made it two in two by leading the line with Yates again when Barnet visited Kenilworth Road for their Vertu Trophy meeting on Tuesday evening, sidefooting Gideon Kodua’s tempting cross into the net via the inside of the post.
Furthermore, strike partner Yates was up and running in a Luton shirt, scoring beautifully off Cohen Bramall’s through ball.
Although the two could and should have added to their total on the night, they were thwarted on multiple opportunities by outstanding visiting custodian Owen Evans.
Bloomfield went on to explain his reasoning for giving them both another chance, as well as his team’s performance.”The plan for Jerry and Lasse was to play again following Saturday because we wanted them to score at home and hit the back of the net at Kenilworth Road.
Lasse and Jerry hadn’t done it here before, so it was great that they both scored and we got them both off without any injuries.
